Cost of living has gotten out of control.
For Tucson residents, the American Dream seems less and less attainable. However, I still believe in an Arizona where la familia comes first. Due to careless Republican policies, that foundation is being shaken by a cost-of-living crisis that forces our neighbors to choose between skyrocketing rent and putting food on the table. As your State Senator, I will fight for real relief, from expanding affordable housing options to holding greedy corporations accountable, so that every family in Tucson has the breathing room they deserve to thrive right here in LD 20.
Nobody should go bankrupt for healthcare.
My entire career, I have advocated for accessible and affordable healthcare. Whether it was sponsoring bills or voting on legislation that has a people-first approach, I have always stood up against those trying to take advantage of my community. It is a moral failure when families are forced to choose between life-saving treatment and keeping a roof over their heads. I have been fighting and will continue to fight to lower prescription drug costs and cap out-of-pocket expenses because your health should never be a debt sentence.
Safeguarding Public Education.
As a proud AFT Union member and product of Sunnyside School District, I know firsthand how public schools empower students to succeed. Today, programs like Empowerment Scholarship Accounts (ESA) are dismantling public education, diverting resources, and undercutting the opportunities students need to thrive.
Keeping good jobs in Arizona is essential for our families and communities. Union labor is the backbone of America and of our state's economy, ensuring fair wages, safe workplaces, and opportunities for every worker to thrive. I will continue fighting to protect Arizona jobs, support union workers, and make sure our state's workforce remains strong and competitive.
